DESCRIPTION:Southsea Cinema & Arts Centre present… Quadrophenia \n\n\n\nA cult-classic British film inspired by the iconic rock opera album by The Who. \n\n\n\n\nTV and film actor Mark Wingett will make a guest appearance at a screening of 70s cult hit movie Quadrophenia on August 6th at Staggeringly Good Brewery. \n\n\n\nMark\, who played Dave in the classic tale of mods v rockers\, will be chatting with the audience in a 20 minute pre-screening Q and A session. Mark says: “It’s great to be back in Pompey again. I grew up in Horndean and my dad was in the navy\, so I was always in the city as a kid. These days\, I still think of Pompey as home.” \n\n\n\nMark\, who filmed Quadrophenia when he was seventeen years old\, went on to star in classic movie Breaking Glass with Hazel O’Connor\, before landing the role of PC (and later DC) Jim Carver in the long-running tv cop show The Bill. \n\n\n\n“Quadrophenia has a special place in my heart\,” he says. “And not just mine! It’s great to see how many people it still inspires!” \n\n\n\nMark will be hosted by his brother\, local writer Matt Wingett\, who starred alongside Mark in last year’s Holmes Fest. “It’s great to be back on stage with Mark\,” says Matt. “I’ll be taking questions from the audience for my bro\, it’ll be a great night!” \n\n\n\n\nThe plot: Set in 1965 London and Brighton\, Quadrophenia follows Jimmy Cooper\, a disillusioned and angst-ridden working-class teenager searching for identity\, belonging\, and escapism within the Mod subculture. Against a backdrop of sharp suits\, scooters\, music\, and clashes with rival Rockers\, Jimmy navigates friendship\, rebellion\, and the pressures of growing up in 1960s Britain. \n\n\n\nPlease note: The location is 18+ so we cannot accept audience members under 18. \n\n\n\nVenue: outside in the Jurassic car park. \n\n\n\nFilm starts: 9 pm \n\n\n\nPlease note\, the screening may be postponed if the weather is bad.
